Today, I want to let the community know that a formal complaint has been filed in state court on behalf of residents who feel this town has not been listening. This isn’t about one person or politics. It’s about doing what’s right when the process feels unfair and people are left out.

This filing challenges how the recent referendum was handled. Many residents were caught off guard by the timeline. Some got the chance to vote, but many others did not. That’s not how democracy should work. This gives the court a chance to review what happened and determine whether the process lived up to the standards our community expects and deserves.

I’m thankful to Lucy Anne Hurston, a respected community leader and former professor, and former Mayor Syd Schulman for standing with me. They didn’t have to get involved, but like so many of us, they care deeply about this town and the people in it.

We’re fortunate to live in a country where, when something doesn’t feel right, we have legal tools to try and make it right. This is not about causing conflict. It’s about standing up for transparency, fairness, and the idea that every resident deserves to be heard.

To those who voted, and those who didn’t get the chance to, this is for you. We’re doing this as a community, and I’m proud to take this step with you.

Attached is the official summons and complaint for anyone who wants to review the filing.

Let’s continue moving forward, together, informed, and committed to a better Bloomfield. @everyoneβ€” with Lucy Anne Hurston.
