𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐦: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰

We get to vote on the Town Council’s adopted budget—but the rules are strict.

To 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭, two things must happen (Town Charter §906):

1. 𝐀 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 must vote 𝐍𝐎

2. 𝐀𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟐,𝟐𝟗𝟎 𝐍𝐎 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 must be cast (15% of Bloomfield’s 15,265 registered voters)

𝐈𝐟 𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬—𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐎.

Also: Some non-resident property owners (age 18+, $1,000+ in real estate) 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞, but they 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 toward the 15% NO threshold, o𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐨.

This is why turnout is critical. We need the numbers—𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐧.

Vote NO to hold the town accountable.
